Come and Enjoy Christ, Emily Liu |
|
The Bible is the most loved book of all Christians. It is God's breathing out. But whenever I read it, I often missed the breath and merely received it as stories and moral teachings. However, this book was unprecedentedly opened to me after some Christian believers introduced me to the books of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. I received light and revelation from God in their writings. My being was opened up and I had more longing for the Word of God. The writings of these two brothers not only taught me the Bible but fed me spiritually as well. Moreover, by reading the New Testament Recovery Version and its footnotes I am learning to read the Bible with a spiritual view. Now I am able to enjoy reading the Bible and am beginning to understand it. Because of the Recovery Version Bible, I am having more fellowship with the Lord, and I am able to contact God in His Word and to hear His speaking. The writings of Witness Lee and Watchman Nee have directed me to Christ. They have enabled me to know Christ in His person and His work more. They also have helped me to enjoy Christ as the all-inclusive One. As a result, I am experiencing Him in a subjective way. The Bible is no longer merely a book of morality or of history to me. Rather, it is a wonderful book of life. Now I treasure the Bible enormously. No Regulations But Christ I grew up in a Christian home. My parents met with the local church. My parents had imposed strict discipline and restrictions on me in my youth. I also knew that I was different from other people because I had the Lord in me. When I was in 6th grade, I received the Lord and was baptized. Since then, I've had God's life in me. Although I didn't have any special feeling then, I gradually realized that there's indeed a Person living inside of me. He has His disposition, preferences, feelings and thoughts. During my growing up, I always informed my parents wherever I went, whoever I was with, or whatever I did, because they worried about me hanging out with the wrong crowd. After I grew older, I could make decisions on my own and my parents didn't restrict me as much as before. At one time I wanted to go to the movies with my friends and I told my mother that I was leaving. I was already out the door when I asked for her opinion. She said, Why don't you ask the Lord? I was shocked and thought, Is it necessary to ask the Lord His thoughts on such a small matter? I went on to the movie and I didn't ask the Lord. After the movie, I felt empty inside. Later on, I realized the Lord within me didn't like what I had done. After several experiences like this, I finally learned to ask the Lord before doing anything. I would ask Him whether or not He would like to go to certain places or to do certain things. As I grew in Christ, I sometimes felt that it would be easier if others would tell me what to do and how to do it. The brothers and sisters would always tell me to care for the inward leading within. The Lord is so real and living to me. Not only is the Lord real but He lives in every believer. Whenever I meet and fellowship with other believers, I appreciate their portions of Christ. The believers in the local church have helped me to know the Lord. I appreciate the Lord and thank Him for putting me here. |
